Eleven years have passed since April 20, 2015, when the curtain rose on one of the most significant trials in modern Greek history. It was a long legal battle that culminated in the final recognition of Golden Dawn as a criminal organization, vindicating the victims and all those who persisted in the pursuit of truth and justice.
The documentary “11 YEARS OF THE GOLDEN DAWN TRIAL: THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT” is SELINI’s first major production and offers a retrospective on this long journey through the voices of those who experienced it up close.
The 95-minute film, written by Chrysa Lykou and directed by Stelios Zachariou, seeks to document the experience of loss and its transformation into struggle, the thoughts and emotions that emerged inside the courtrooms, as well as the reflections of people who played a decisive role in following, bringing public attention to, and ultimately securing justice in the case.
Relatives of victims, victims themselves, lawyers, journalists, and photojournalists offer their personal reflections following the final ruling. They look back on the course of the trial, its difficulties and delays, the case’s broader social and political implications, and the immense significance of the historic conviction of Golden Dawn as a criminal organization.
